How to Wash Embroidered Dress Shirts

Nowadays, more and more businessmen are choosing embroidered dress shirts instead of plain dress shirts. An embroidered dress shirt is a dress shirt with a company logo embroiderd on the left chest pocket. The reasons why embroidered dress shirts are gaining popularity are simple. Embroidered dress shirts provide upscale corporate identity and serve as a walking advertisement for the company.

There is nothing more important than a crisp, white formal shirt on a professional business man. So, correct washing techniques can make your dress shirt look much more spectacular. But many people may find washing dress shirts no easy job at all. Here are some tips.

1. Search for stains before washing an embroidered dress shirt. Common stain locations are on the collar, cuffs, right down the front or under the arms.

2. Flip up the collar, locate the collar stays and remove them. Collar stays are prone to warping during the wash cycle, rendering them useless for holding your collar straight.

3. Turn your embroidered dress shirt inside out. This will minimize wear on the exterior seams and protect the buttons.

4. Turn your washing machine temperature dial to luke warm and soak your dress shirt for a few minutes. Use the gentle cycle when you wash dress shirts and any other high quality items.

5. You'd better hang dry your embroidered dress shirt. This can prevent the shirt from shrinking and make the shirt more wearable.

6. Iron your embroidered dress shirt carefully. Use steam iron, if possible.

7. Special tips for stubborn stains on your embroidered dress shirts. For oily stains, mix 1 teaspoon of sugar and 1 teaspoon of water; rub the mixture into the stain, and let it set for 30 minutes. For ink, spray a quarter-size amount of hairspray onto the stain from about an inch away, and let it dry. For wine and fruit juice, apply a mixture of 1 teaspoon of lemon juice and 1 teaspoon of salt on the stain. Scrub the stained area, and let it sit for 30 minutes.
