How to Fold & Pack Embroidered Dress Shirts

How to Fold & Pack Embroidered Dress ShirtsDo you travel a lot for business? Are you planning to do a little spring cleaning? Many people prefer to hang their dress shirts in the closets. This is certainly the best way to prevent a dress shirt from creasing & wrinkling. But when there is a lack of space or traveling, you may find it's challenging to packing the shirts properly. You can always save your time and space by folding your dress shirts without getting wrinkled. Just take a few minutes to learn how.

How to Fold Dress Shirts

  • Lay the shirt flat (put the shirt face down on a table), making sure it's buttoned up.
Fully buttoning the shirt will ensure a tight, wrinkle-free fold.
  • Fold the sleeves to the middle of the back, making sure the sides of your shirts don't fold over.
Fold in each sleeve horizontally, so that the cuffs cross over the middle of the back. Take care not to fold in the shirt's side seams in.
  • Fold the sides to the middle of the shirt
Fold in both sleeves again, this time bringing the shirt's side seams in evenly from shoulder to hem, so they meet under the collar, forming a broad V shape there. (The sides won't necessarily meet farther down the shirt.
Tips: Placing tissue paper over the back will help reduce wrinkles further.
  • Fold in half lengthwise
Holding the bottom of the shirt with two hands, fold shirt in half lengthwise from the bottom up, so that the bottom edge of the shirt rests below the bottom of the collar. (Do this once or twice, depending on the length of the shirt and the depth of your storage space.) Flip folded shirt over and store.

  • Lay your dress shirt, front-side down, on a table.
  • Place a dry cleaning bag on the back of the shirt.
  • Fold in the sleeves and fabric that extends past the width of the collar; your shirt should now only be as wide as the collar.
  • Take a second bag and place it on the middle of the shirt.
  • Fold the bottom up over the bag, so it lines up evenly with the collar.
  • Wrap the shirt in a third bag.
